Message from the President

The summer season is only a couple of months away and the nets will soon be up. We have a full program of events planned again for 2011 including a few new ones. This year we will introduce an all day mixed doubles tournament on Saturday August 13 that will be similar in format to our other doubles tournament. A parent child round robin will be added as a lead in to the kids tennis awards. We will also be introducing unsupervised open play for teenagers on Thursday afternoons from 4-6.

The weather cooperated last year and we were able to complete the resurfacing and repair of courts 3 & 4 on time and on budget. The reviews have been very positive. We would ask everyone to help enforce the club’s policy of using only non-marking tennis shoes on the courts. Let’s keep those courts looking like new!

The club continues to be financially sound and generates sufficient positive cash flow each year to help build a healthy reserve for future resurfacing and repairs. Given the size of our reserve, your Board of Directors decided that there would be no fee increases this year. Please remember to submit your dues on time.

Our success is very dependent upon the tireless effort of its volunteer Board of Directors and we would like extend our sincere gratitude to Peri Wiseman, Wendy Losberg, Rosemary Miller, and Diane Monteith who are stepping down as Directors after many years of dedicated service. I would also like to express our deepest sympathies to the family of Mike Ford who passed away last fall. Mike has been a Director for many years and will be sadly missed.

The club is accepting new members and is always looking for volunteers to get involved. The Annual General Meeting will take place on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 11am on the south courts. This is your meeting where we provide an opportunity to learn more about the Club.

Have a great summer,
